Serene's Spinal Deformity Transformation
Serene a sixteen-year-old girl who has been dealing with a spinal deformity measuring 22 degrees that posed significant challenges to her daily life and overall well-being. After consulting with a specialized doctor, she's required a corset to treat her condition and prevent it from worsening over-time. However, the hindrance for Serene and her family was their limited financial means, making it impossible to secure the necessary medical device.
Thanks to the "Filling Gaps in Basic Rehabilitation Services for Displaced Persons with Disabilities from Syria and Their Counterparts in Host Communities in Lebanon" Project, Serene's life took a positive turn. Through the Vision for Development, Rehabilitation, and Care Association, Serene is able to gain the corset she so desperately needed on September 6, 2023.
Not only did it help reduce her spinal deformity from 22 degrees to a significantly improved 10 degrees, that bring profound transformation in her self-confidence. With the risk of further spinal distortion effectively mitigated, Serene found free from the burden of worry that had plagued her for so long.
This newfound physical comfort and confidence have opened up a world of possibilities for Serene. She can now look forward to a brighter future, unhindered by the limitations her spinal condition once imposed on her daily life and aspirations. The project's support improved her physical health and rejuvenated her spirit, instilling hope and optimism for the journey ahead.
